Capitalism or Socialism?

1

Think American Capitalism Is Stumbling?

Take a Look How European Socialism Is Faring. Market Capitalism May Have the Flu, but Socialism Has Pneumonia.

"We Are All Socialists Now” So proclaimed Newsweek magazine in its brazen February 7, 2009 cover story.

That headline constitutes wishful thinking more than it does objective reporting by the notoriously left-leaning Newsweek. It symbolizes, however, the eagerness on the part of liberals to leverage the current economic downturn toward seismic economic and ideological reorganization in America. (For more go to:)

You bring up an interesting point- while many Americans are becoming disillusioned with capitalism, Europeans, Africans, South Americans and many Asians have been increasingly disillusioned with socialism, particularly over the last 5-10 years.

I think the genesis of our dissatisfaction with capitalism is largely based in unrealistic notions, perpetuated by some charlatans on Wall Street and DC, that the U.S. housing market and stock markets would increase at rates of 10 and 20% a year in perpetuity. In point of fact, it is pretty clear that a healthy market economy will increase at a rate of 5-10% a year when you factor in the ebb and flows that occur over the course of many cycles.

It reminds me of why some people become disillusioned with God. To which we must thoughtfully and gently ask: “Are you sure your concept of God was correct? What if you had an incorrect view or expectation of God?”
