A Defence of The Truth

Encouragement

Even though the temple lay in ruins and the people were exiles in a foreign land he encouraged his soul with a defense of the truth (vv. 12-23).

  1. When God does not answer in the thunder and the storm. It is not because he can not but because it is to His glory to act in a gentler, but equally effective way (vv. 12-17).
  2. God’s people do not normally wield much power in high places. But have access to the supreme court of heaven where all power ultimately comes to rest (vv. 18-19).
  3. No flaws can annul God’s eternal purpose as he has promised in his Word (v. 20).
  4. He wants our sobs and sighs to be turned to Him in praise (v. 21).We have no reason to defend our interests in this world when the Lord is our defender (vv. 22-23).

Application

God has a purpose for everything that He allows to happen in my life whether it is good or bad. I just need to learn go be content in whatever state I’m in.
