Haggard fired for sexual immorality
This past weekend the news media has carried the sad account of a pastor in Colorado Springs, Colorado. – Less than a day after being fired from leadership of the evangelical mega-church of 14,000 he founded in the basement of his home 26 years ago, the Rev. Ted Haggard confessed Sunday to “sexual immorality,” which included ongoing homo-sexual encounters with his accuser. At the same time Haggard supported a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage that’s on the Colorado ballot. In a letter read to members of his New Life Church on Sunday, Haggard said he is “a deceiver and a liar.” Haggard apologized to his congregation in the letter and asked for their forgiveness.” (COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (CNN) Nov. 6, 2006).
