Godly Sorrow Results in Change

Godly sorrow results in a willingness to change. Worldly sorrow results in hanging on to the sin. Worldly sorrow sees the sin as precious, as something you know is wrong yet you find yourself desperately trying to figure out some fool proof way to keep it close to you. Like Balboa, worldly sorrow deceives us into thinking we can keep our sin under control, never realizing it can enslave us. But God is no cheap conjurer, He wants to free us of our sin, but to do so He knows we must be willing to let it go, to stop hanging on to what we think as “precious,” and be willing to change.
