The Flag of Identity

Isaiah says that we are to “lift up an ensign over the peoples” (Isaiah 5:26). An ensign is a flag or banner. If you’ve seen a Navy ship you may have noticed the field of stars flying at the stern. That’s an ensign. It identifies the ship by its nationality. Isaiah tells us to hoist a flag in our lives to show that Christ is there. Put up many flags to show all the places the Lord rules in a single life. It’s part of your victory because Christ has come to live in you. (Eldon Weisheit, Concordia Pulpit).
