Not thinking about what I’m singing

As a congregation was singing the closing hymn, “For you I am Praying,"  the speaker turned to a man on the platform and asked, “For whom are you praying?” The man was stunned and said,” Why..Why I guess I’m praying for anybody. Why do you ask?” The speaker replied, “Well I just heard you say, “For you I am praying, and I thought you meant it.” “Oh no,” said the man. “I’m just singing.” It is so easy to just be singing words and not thinking about what I’m singing.
