Ezekiel’s Vision For The 3rd Temple

In his book, First Things First, author Stephen Covey wrote about Viktor Frankl, and Austrian psychologist who survived the death camps of Nazi Germany. Frankl made a startling discovery about why some survived the horrible conditions and some did not. “He looked at se … More

Vision

The next nine chapters tell how the temple is the focal point of everything, showing that the ideal relationship with God is when all of life centers on Him. In this section the Lord gave Ezekiel a vision of restored Israel. He saw a detailed picture of the new temple and received lengthy instructions for the future leaders of the nations. The visions Ezekiel saw regarding the new land were startling. Almost six chapters in the book of Ezekiel are devoted to an explicit description of the Temple. His eyes must have flooded with tears of joy as he saw before him the beloved altar of sacrifice and the beautiful Temple building with its two golden pillars before the Holy Place and Holy of Holies. The details given in this vision gave the people even more hope that what Ezekiel saw had come from God and would surely happen in the future.

This model of this Millennial Temple is an ongoing study concerning the vision that was shown in tremendous detail to Ezekiel over 2,500 years ago. To date, this temple has not yet been constructed, but Scripture indicates that in the future people will see it built in the land of Israel. The most exciting thing about this temple is that the glory of the Lord will be there, which is why the city is called Yahweh Shamah (The Lord is There). The knowledge of His glory in this temple will cover the earth like the waters cover the sea, and He shall reign over all the earth headquartered in this temple!

Application

It seems clear that this vision gave hope to the people of Ezekiel’s time who had seen their nation destroyed with no hope of rebuilding in the near future. My hope is in the rapture of the church and the Lord’s return which may be very soon.
