Miracles Performed by Moses And Aaron
May 27, 2020
Commentary
God used Egypt’s animosity to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. God sent his servant Moses and Aaron to His people in Egypt, and they worked miracles and wonders there (vv. 26-27). The psalmist does not list all the miracles, nor does he place them in the order they occurred, but he does review many of the plagues:
1. Plagues that caused the Egyptians to doubt (vv. 28-29). Moses and Aaron obeyed God and He sent darkness to cover Egypt. This plague of darkness must have caused the Egyptians to doubt Pharaoh’s ability to rule. God then turned their rivers into streams of blood and the fish all died. The plague of blood would have made them wonder about the correctness of his decisions.
2. Plagues that filled the Egyptians with disgust (vv. 30-31). To have frogs everywhere must have been disgusting. Think of how annoying it would have been to have flies everywhere
3. Plagues that made the Egyptians dread life (vv. 32-33). The hail and rain beat down their vines and fig trees which brought substance of life.
4. Plagues that brought the Egyptians great dismay (vv. 34-35). Think of having locusts and caterpillars beyond number that were devouring the food you had to eat.
5. Plagues that filled the Egyptians with despair (v. 36). With dead people in almost every home, the horror and fear throughout Egypt must have been beyond description.
Application
God loves everyone in this world and is not willing that any should perish (II Peter 3:9). However, it is easy for me to think that there is no hope for certain people. I need to be more alert to what the Lord is doing to reach them through every situation of life.
