We Will be Judged For What We do in The Body
October 26, 2022
Commentary
- Four amazing things (vv. 18-19) – Things that I cannot understand (v. 18).
- An eagle in the sky – “How eagles fly so high” – (v. 19).
- A snake on a rock – “or snakes crawl on rocks – (v. 19).
- A ship in the ocean – “How ships sail the ocean – (v. 19).
- A man with a woman – “or people fall in love” – (v. 19).
Such is the way of an adulterous woman (v. 20). Hardened in her conscience, she lives in her sin and boldly says, “I have done no wickedness.” She treats it as lightly as if she had eaten a meal and wiped her mouth. It is often excused as if it were something which is normal and for which men are not accountable. But God has declared He will “bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or evil” (Eccles. 12:14).
Harmony is accomplished only when people maintain their proper roles and do not assume positions they are not supposed to be handling (vv. 21-23).
- Four unbearable things in leadership – (vv. 21-23)
- Inexperienced and unqualified people being elevated to positions of leadership (v. 22).
- A fool who is full of food and disregards the needs of others (v .22).
- The woman who captures a man and then brings grief to the marriage (v. 23).
- A handmaid who wins the affections of the husband and brings ruin to that home (v. 23).
Application
We need to remember that God sees everything that we do and every one of us will be judged for the things done in this body. He made me and knows what my gifts and abilities are. Lord, help me to never fail you.
Proverbs 30:18– 23 (NET)
18 There are three things that are too wonderful for me, four that I do not understand:
19 the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship in the sea, and the way of a man with a woman.
20 This is the way of an adulterous woman: she has eaten and wiped her mouth and has said, “I have not done wrong.”
21 Under three things the earth has trembled, and under four things it cannot bear up:
22 under a servant who becomes king, under a fool who becomes stuffed with food,
23 under an unloved woman who becomes married, and under a female servant who dispossesses her mistress.
