My Dad Knew How to Motivate me to Work
I remember when I was a boy growing up on the farm and how I hated all the work I had to do. My dad was a firm believer that if we ate at the family table we needed to help produce the food on the table. When I was in elementary school he would ask me to go to the corn field with him to hoe the weeds out of the corn. He would motivate me to hoe by challenging me to take one row and he would take another and if I could beat him to the other end of the field (about 1/4 mile), and do a good job. he would buy me an ice cream cone. I would really make the weeds fly. He knew how to motivate me and make fun out of the job at the same time. (Lou Nicholes - Missionary/Author).
