Pressures to evacuate Beirut, Lebanon

In February 1984 the U.S.A. and Great Britain withdrew from Beirut, Lebanon. Everyone from each country who wanted to come out was evacuated. Before this happened everyone was saying, “our people are in this dangerous situation. Why don’t they do something about it.” The press was making this matter headlines and the people were getting stirred up about it. Then suddenly there was an evacuation. The commanders of this expedition had planned this evacuation many days prior to its execution. However, they could not reveal the fact at the time because it could have lead to a disaster. So, while everyone was shouting, “Why doesn’t this government do something, the people in charge were doing something important. (Source Unknown).
