An Elaborate Castle Never Lived in
High in the hills overlooking the Black Sea stands an elaborate castle never lived in and occupied only by swallows. More than a half century ago, a wealthy merchant ordered the construction of the castle, perched on the rocky steeps near Cape Aytodor. However, he was never able to move in because the foundations were insecure and the building proved unsafe for human habitation. To this day, “Swallows’ Nest” has no tenants except the birds that give it its name. The castle is a work of art, but it is totally wasted in the Russian region.
