Tess, an eight-year-old, heard her mom and dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. He was very sick and only a very expensive surgery could save his life. Tess quickly took her piggy bank from its hiding place, and ran down to the Drug Store. The pharmacist was talking to his brother from Chicago. Tess interrupted by saying, I want to talk to you about my brother. He’s really sick and I want to buy a miracle. The pharmacist’s brother stooped down and asked Tess, what kind of miracle does your brother need? I don’t know, Tess replied, but he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. My parents don’t have money to pay for it, so I want to use my money. How much do you have in your jar asked the man from Chicago? One dollar and eleven cents, Tess said proudly. That’s all the money I have. Well, you are in luck, the man said with a smile. One dollar and eleven cents is the exact price of a miracle for little brothers. The brother was Dr. Carlton Armstrong who just happened to be a noted neurosurgeon.
