Does the Preaching Stop People Who are Cheating?

A group of Indian chiefs met with a Mr. Cram of the Boston Missionary Society in 1805 to hear the Gospel. After the sermon one of the leading chiefs said: “If there is only one way to worship and serve the great spirit, why do you white people differ so much about it? You have been preaching to the white people around us who are our neighbors. We know them and will be watching to see what effect your preaching has on them. If we find that it does them good and they stop cheating us Indians, we will then consider what you have said.” (Source Unknown).
