The Trouble With Sin

One day two women came up to D.L. Moody after a service. They said, “We have been praying for you.” “Why don’t you pray for the people?” he asked. “Because you need the power of the Spirit,” they said. Mr. Moody could not get this off his mind and h … More

The effects of the Fall reached beyond Adam and Eve:

1. The serpent was cursed (v. 14). It would have to crawl upon its belly eating the dust. God said there would be a continual struggle between satanic forces and mankind (v. 15).

2. The woman received  a threefold curse (v. 16).“Multiply thy sorrow and thy conception":

(a) “Pain in child bearing.”

(b) “Desire shall be to the husband."  Many suggest that this refers to sexual desire.

(c) “He shall rule over thee” - the woman is to submit to the husband.

3. The ground was cursed (vv. 17-19). This involves  toil, sweat and  tears in order to provide a  livelihood as the thorns and thistles came.

4. The body was cursed  (v.19). Man  begins to die the day he is born as his body starts to deteriorate and eventually goes back to dust.

However, in spite of all of this God has made some very gracious provisions: (vv. 20-24)

1. Man will die and be spared of living in this chaotic condition forever.

2. Children will be born so that the human race will continue.

3. Ultimate victory will come through Christ, the seed of the woman (Galatians 3:16) as he takes those who are saved to live with Him.

We need to realize how much sin has affected us? Apart from having Christ I am nothing.
